🤖 eCommerce News:

“Chris Cracchiolo, senior vice president of Walmart+, said in a corporate blog post that "Walmart+ members have told us they're passionate about their music and entertainment, so today's announcement is just one more way that we're adding value to our Walmart+ membership." Walmart also announced that it will turn the membership, which includes free shipping on e-commerce items along with other perks, into an employment benefit by giving it free to Walmart's 1.6 million full-time and part-time associates.”

“Joining other social platforms in adding shopping features, Twitter has introduced Twitter Shops, which lets sellers choose up to 50 products to showcase on the social media app, according to a Wednesday announcement. With Twitter Shops, shoppers can click the "View Shop" button on merchants' profiles to browse their available products. Some of the first businesses testing the function include Verizon, Gay Pride Apparel and Arden Cove, according to the post.”

“Henry Kim, co-founder and CEO of Swiftly. “Those that don’t connect the digital and in-store customer experience risk becoming obsolete and are handing over loyal customers and advertising revenue to the competition. Swiftly gives power back to retailers by providing a complete and flexible solution for in-app and in-store shopping enabling them to meet their customers where they’re shopping.””

“Moonshot Brands today announced it secured $30 million in equity and $150 million in a credit facility that will be used, in part, to purchase assets from other e-commerce aggregators. Co-founder CJ Isakow said this was just the beginning of what he thought would be further consolidation in the crowded sector. “A lot of funding announcements came out last year, and people were buying at the peak of COVID pricing, but now aggregators are starting to fail, and we are purchasing assets from some of them,” Isakow told TechCrunch.”

“Organic infant formula company Bobbie is taking a hint from its staggering revenue results in 2021 to get out in front of its product pipeline. Laura Modi, co-founder and CEO of Bobbie, told me she had expected $4 million in revenue for 2021, but closed the year with $18 million. “It was pretty extraordinary,” “We had been heads down on growth and innovation, and what is clear is we have hit product-market fit. This is the product parents have been waiting for.””

“Amazon’s Clubhouse competitor has arrived. The retail giant on Tuesday launched a new mobile app called Amp, which allows people to create live “radio shows” where they can act as a DJ by taking callers and playing tracks from its catalog of tens of millions of licensed songs, ranging from classic titles to today’s music. The app is available in a limited U.S. beta, Amazon said.”

“Spotify helped pave the way for a new model for consumers to listen to music: pay a monthly fee to stream whatever you want, with no need to own any physical or digital versions of it. Now, a startup called Perlego, which has been applying that concept to academic textbooks, has picked up $50 million to expand its business after seeing its platform boom through COVID-19. The London startup currently has 400,000 paying subscribers who get all-you-can-read access to some 850,000 titles — textbooks, fiction and other literature that students are assigned as coursework at universities and other higher-learning institutions.”

““Live video conferencing infrastructure startup 100ms, based in India and the U.S., has raised $20 million in Series A funding to power the next generation of live video apps. Most companies shy away from building this technology because it is very complex. We are targeting any business trying to embed video inside their application. It could be an edtech company doing online classes, a health tech company who’s doing telehealth calls between a doctor and a patient or somebody selling something via live commerce,” said Gupta, who worked as a live video infrastructure product manager at Meta before joining Disney+ Hotstar.”

🎶 Tik Tok Of The Week

@Rowleyy Tik Tok Ad for Wild Deodorant

One of the best Tik Tok ads I’ve seen to date.

Rowleyy is one of my favourite content creators and because it was similar to his usual content & humour, until the “Shop Now” box appeared I hadn’t even realised it was an advert.

I truly believe Tik Tok is currently in a golden phase for both organic & paid content.

Those that squeeze Tik Tok for all it’s got & have the talent / cash to pull it off will be sitting at the top of the pile I have no doubt.

📈 Trends Of The Week:

Customer Support Teams Need… Support!

“HubSpot’s survey found that training ranked higher on the list of priorities than it did last year, and among the 1.4k global respondents, ~50% of companies experiencing exponential growth were exposing support agents to training several times per month”

What kind of training should you do? Start with people’s biggest pain point. Roughly half of all service agents and leaders of service teams said that “not enough time in the day” was their No. 1 or No. 2 problem.”

Lumbar Support

“Searches for office-chair lumbar support pillows topped ~27.2k on Amazon last month, up nearly 7x from December of 2021, according to Jungle Scout.”

✍️ Poem of the week

Stand still. The trees ahead and bushes beside youAre not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,Must ask permission to know it and be known. The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,I have made this place around you.If you leave it, you may come back again, saying Here.No two trees are the same to Raven. No two branches are the same to Wren.If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,You are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knowsWhere you are. You must let it find you.“Lost” by David Wagoner
