🤖 eCommerce News:
“Shipium was founded in 2019 by a group of former Amazon Prime and Zulily supply chain builders. In particular, Jason Murray, co-founder and CEO, was with Amazon for nearly 20 years, and during his last decade, was automating and using machine learning around solving for the “Prime problem” as he called it — how to make fast shipping affordable. Shipium is building that tech stack so that e-commerce retailers can have that supply chain coordination layer that enables them to have fast and cheaper shipping, too. This comes as the global e-commerce logistics market is poised to be valued at more than $3 trillion by 2028.”
“The tech giant is looking toward the power of messaging to connect users in a more personal way. On that front, the company today introduced its plans for a significant update to its WhatsApp messaging app that will allow users to now not only connect privately with friends and family, as before, but also participate in larger discussion groups, called Communities. These groups aim to serve as a more feature-rich replacement for people’s larger group chats with added support for tools like file sharing, 32-person group calls and emoji reactions, as well as admin tools and moderation controls, among other things.”
“Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, announced some initial plans on Wednesday to allow content creators to monetize its would-be Metaverse platform, Horizon Worlds. Meta's planned revenue share for contributors' creations could add up to nearly 50 percent.”
“Amazon will implement a 5% fuel and inflation surcharge on its fulfillment services for third-party sellers beginning April 28, the company announced Wednesday. The surcharge, a first for Fulfillment by Amazon, comes after Amazon already hiked fees in January to help offset higher operating costs. The e-commerce giant is among companies passing on added costs in an inflationary environment — FedEx and UPS' fuel surcharges remain elevated since the start of the year.”
“Glacier‘s technology has benefited from not only Areeb’s AI experience at Facebook, but also our incredible team of interdisciplinary robotics and AI engineers,” Hu tells TechCrunch. “Our team has developed and deployed self-driving excavators and forklifts, extraterrestrial mining robots, humanoid disaster response robots and AI models to detect prostate cancer. We’re really proud to have gathered some of the best technological minds in one place. What makes us particularly special, and what we look for in every new hire, is a deep passion for fighting climate change. That intrinsic motivation across the whole team really pushes us to go the extra mile for the entire recycling industry.”
“In addition to starting to use recycled gold for the first time, Apple has more than doubled the use of recycled tungsten, rare earth elements and cobalt, the company said. In 2021, recycled materials accounted for nearly 20% of the materials in Apple products, which is the highest it has ever been. Last year, 59% of the aluminum in shipped Apple products came from recycled sources, with some products containing 100% recycled material within the enclosure.”
“Target is testing a secondhand apparel marketplace, leveraging ThredUp's "resale as a service" platform, the retailer said by email. The offer includes about 400,000 women's and kids items from Target's owned brands as well as national and premium brands curated from ThredUp's own assortment, the retailer said.”

✍️ Poem Of The Week
Pebbles
Out of a pellucid brookPebbles round and smooth I took;Like a jewel, every oneCaught a color from the sun, —Ruby red and sapphire blue,Emerald and onyx too,Diamond and amethyst, —Not a precious stone I missed;Gems I held from every landIn the hollow of my hand.
Workman Water these had made;Patiently through sun and shade,With the ripples of the rillHe had polished them, untilSmooth, symmetrical and bright,Each one sparkling in the lightShowed within its burning heartAll the lapidary’s art;And the brook seemed thus to sing:Patience conquers everything!
