💰 Electrify Video Partners raises $50 million to invest in YouTube channels The trio founded Electrify to invest both cash and resources into “established, successful creators with a solid income,” in exchange for partial ownership of their channels (usually around 50%) and a share of profits. Electrify is also in the market to acquire some channels outright. Its three investments include: Astronomy-focused Astrum, which has gone from 780,000 subscribers to 1.3 million since receiving investment in 2021 (plus grown its views 70% year over year); LEGO enthusiast Spitbrix, which has gone from 550,000 to 750,000 subscribers since receiving investment in 2022; and kids’ channel Fizzy, which is Electrify’s most recent investment. That channel just hit 10 million subscribers.

🎹 Pinterest Tests New ‘Premiere Spotlight’ Ads on its Search Page Pinterest is testing out a new â€˜Premiere Spotlight’ ad unit, which would place a brands’ promotion in the prominent, top-of-screen real estate on the app’s search page. Premiere Spotlight will give advertisers prime position for 24 hours, with engaging, video promotions that will be activated in-stream. Tap on the ‘Visit Site’ CTA in the ad and you’ll be taken to the brand’s website, which opens within the Pinterest app, enabling advertisers to drive direct response from the promotion.

đŸŽ¶ TikTok’s new ‘Series’ feature lets creators put content behind a paywall TikTok is launching a new feature called “Series” that allows eligible creators to post content behind a paywall, the company announced on Tuesday. The new monetization feature adds another way for creators to earn money for their content on the app. Series is currently only available to select creators, with applications to join opening in the coming months.

đŸ“ș Incoming YouTube CEO Neal Mohan Outlines His Vision for the Future of the App Incoming YouTube CEO Neal Mohan has laid out his initial vision for the future of the app, which includes a range of creator monetization and expression tools, along with YouTube TV developments, generative AI, podcasts, and more. First off, Mohan says that he wants to help creators make more money, in order to keep them posting to the app.As per Mohan: â€œHundreds of thousands of channels made money on YouTube for the first time last year. And we’re providing more opportunities for creators outside of ads by expanding our subscriptions business, investing in shopping, and continually improving our paid digital goods offerings.”

📈 Reddit gets a TikTok-style feature that introduces a separate video feed "Today Reddit announced updates to its platform, including the test of a TikTok-like feature that separates text and video content into individual feeds. Dubbed “Read” and “Watch,” the two split-view feeds will allow users to switch from browsing text-based posts to videos, depending on their mood. The new feeds are currently being tested but will roll out fully in the coming weeks, a Reddit spokesperson told TechCrunch. As part of the test, both the “Read” and “Watch” feeds will include posts that users are subscribed to as well as recommendations, at least for now, the spokesperson added."

🐩 Twitter’s Planning to Extend Long-Form Tweets to 10k Characters  "Have you noticed those super-long tweets, hidden behind the ‘Show more’ indicator, appearing in your Twitter feed? Want to see even longer tweets? If you answered yes, you’re in luck, because Elon Musk says that longer long tweets, up to 10k characters, are coming soon to the app. To recap, the current long-form tweets, now available to Twitter Blue subscribers, can be up to 4,000 characters long, and were released early last month."

"More bad news for TikTok, with the US House Foreign Affairs Committee today voting to give President Joe Biden the power to ban the Chinese-owned app, if he deems such a move necessary, amid ongoing security discussions around its potential connection to the CCP.

The White House has already announced a full ban of TikTok on government-owned devices, following similar moves in over 30 US states. EU and Canadian officials have also followed suit, banning the app on all official devices, as tensions between China and the west continue to simmer, largely tied back to the Ukraine conflict."

"The 21-year-old US streamer amassed 300,000 subscribers on the Amazon-owned streaming service, following a month-long drive to increase subscriptions.

Two years later, Cenat broke Ludwig's record with his own subscription marathon - or 'subathon' - a stream with a countdown timer which is extended every time someone subscribes to the channel.
