🎨 Thumb-stopping AD creative

In this section I will be highlighting a few stand out ads I came across during the week.

AD 1: Hismile

We’re building the future of smile care, one step at a time.”

What made this creative stand out?

The hook:

  • Firstly the “reply to comment” style makes it seem natural and like an organic post that you’d see on the feed

  • Its funny. In the video someone runs over to their colleague tapping them on the shoulder, they’re surprised nearly spilling their coffee

  • Next he asks him how their V35 colour corrector teeth whitening product works

Visual explainer:

  • I’ve always wondered why do they use a purple liquid. Is it just for show or does it serve a purpose. Turns out yellow and purple are opposite ends of the spectrum, so when you combine them it neutralises the yellow and creates a white tone. You learn something new everyday!

  • Instead of just saying that to the camera, he walks you through this using a colour wheel and photoshop on his laptop. A really engaging and educational watch. Something i’d genuinely sit and watch. Not something i’d say about most ads!

Showing the results: Before & After:

  • At the end of the video they demonstrate the product working in action. Someone with yellow teeth applies the product and as they wash off the purple paste a set of fresh white teeth appears.

Great hook → explains the product → shows the result. Great AD all round!

“Pillow Cube is the first pillow designed specifically for side sleepers.”

Why did this creative piece command attention?

Emphasis on Striking Design:

The use of contrasting hues, meaningful symbols, and pertinent annotations amplifies the unique character of this creative work, making it an eye-catcher on the news feed.

The inclusion of a skeleton wearing dazzling, gold retro spectacles is genuinely intriguing, evoking a moment of curiosity and making viewers pause to question, "What the F is that”.

Pain and Relief – The Before & After:

By showcasing the problem first – a dilemma familiar to many side sleepers – the initial image strikes a chord. The vivid red lightning bolts serve as compelling visual metaphors, drawing viewers' attention to the discomfort experienced when resting on inadequate pillows that result in an awkward neck bend.

This is brilliantly contrasted with the 'after' image featuring the Pillow Cube. The portrayal of a content sleeper with a perfectly aligned spine underlines the solution we provide, immediately resonating with the audience's desire for pain-free, comfortable sleep.
